1st Speaker: Jeff Carter, CommVault

  • Jeff Carter is a database focused Solutions Specialist with CommVault
  • Jeff has 25 years experience as an Oracle DBA and is currently based out of Seattle
  • He has worked in the aerospace, banking, telecommunications and software industries

2nd Presentation: Oracle 12c Data Guard

Oracle Data Guard is used to ensure high availability, data protection and disaster recovery. How does it work in the 12c environment? How do we configure, switchover or failover? What Options are available and how does it all relate to container databases?
The purpose of this presentation is to provide a technical insight to the above questions and to demonstrate some of the procedures involved.

2nd Speaker: Ray Smith, CGI

  • Ray first started working as an Oracle DBA in 1992. He joined CGI as a Senior DBA in 2006 and specializes in Disaster Recovery, HA Solutions & Database Tuning.
  • Currently the Team Lead for the DBServices Call Center, his passion revolves around learning, teaching and sharing.
  • Ray regularly teaches as part of the SAIT DBA Fast Track Program and this will be his 5th Presentation at COUG
