Presentation: Oracle Database 12c: Secured – Security New Features and Preparing for the Next Release
In Oracle Database 12c, there are several new security features that are easy to implement and provide ways to manage a secure configuration. An overall security architecture can get very complicated. Depending on the regulations and other security compliance, the additional auditing, preventing access and reporting adds to the complexity.
- But before getting lost in the big picture, let’s take a look at a couple of security areas and the new security features that can be simple to implement and provide value for providing a secure database environment.
- This will be a discussion around these new features and some practical uses.

- Michelle Malcher is president of the Independent Oracle User Group (IOUG).She is an Oracle ACE Director with more than 15 years’ experience in database development, security, design, and administration.
- She has been involved in the Oracle Security Customer Advisory Council, and developed and implemented processes for maintaining secure database configurations.
- She is co-author of the Oracle Database 12c: Install, Configure & Maintain Like a Professional, Oracle Database 11g: A Beginner’s Guide and author of the Oracle Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server DBAs. Michelle has written articles for IOUG Select Journal and has given many presentations on database topics to the Oracle user group communities.
