COUG March 21st Event featuring Simon Pane from First4 Database Partners Inc.

Presentation: Oracle ASM – Letting Oracle manage Your Storage

Oracle’s Automatic Storage Management (ASM) has been here for a decade yet it’s still rarely used. Contrary to belief, it’s not just for RAC database environments or complex storage sub-systems. Rather ASM is applicable to almost any Oracle 10g or 11g database.

  • This presentation reviews ASM and how it can be used, the pros and cons, practical recommendations, and how easily it can be tested.

Speaker: Simon Pane, First4 Database Partners Inc.

  • Simon Pane has worked as a DBA consultant for over 17 years covering the Oracle Database from versions 6 through 11gR2
  • His focus is on Oracle High Availability, Monitoring, Backup & Recovery, and Security in many environments from small single database implementations to large corporate enterprises
  • Simon has presented at many user groups and International conferences in Calgary, Dallas, Orlando, and Chicago
